i was wondering what kind of cartridge do i need for a j stevens 32 long favorite when are trying to figure out if its a rimfire or center fire. So if can help it greatful.
Answer
Catherine,
You would need a .32 long rimfire cartridge. Unfortunately, the manufacture of .32 rimfire cartridges ending for the most part in 1941. Manufacturers simply stopped making it as there was no demand. Several companies continued to import these cartridges for a number of years, but even that has stopped. The cartridges that you can find are sold as collectables and are not guaranteed to fire. Most sellers limit a buyer to a single round. Prices per round range from $4 to $25 per cartridge.
What you have is a little piece of firearms history...and not much more. It certainly is not likely that you will find shootable ammo for this rifle. Depending on the condition of the gun, it may be worth between $200 and $300 to a collector. If it were me, I'd probably hang on to it as it is a pretty cool old gun...
Sorry I don't have better news...
