optics for long-range target shooting

Question
Hello. Rod,
I recently got back into target shooting after a more than 15-year hiatus. Now 67 years old, the eyes aren't what they were, and I'm thinking about buying a scope for use part of the time at long ranges: 600 metres usually, occasionally up to 1000. Price is definitely an object, as I'm retired and not extremely ambitious about doing more than turning in creditable performances in club matches. My rifle is a Parker-Hale .303 with a bull barrel. I'm able to score in the 80's with iron sights fairly consistently, so I think I should be able to do a good deal better with a decent scope.
Any advice you can give me will be much appreciated.
Thanks for your time and attention.
Ed C.
Answer
Hi Ed,
Since you're on a budget you should probably consider the Bushnell Elite. That will get you into a fairly decent and reliable scope for at least 400.00 less than a Leupold. I'll bet you can find plenty of them on eBay. I hope that helps! -Rod-
