Question
Hi Rod: Me again (thankyou for prev. advice). I'm working w/my .243 Rem ADL w/lighter gr. bullets. The .223 cal. looks like an ideal cart. for low recoil. Fallen in love w/ Rem. 700 BDL w/gorgeous walnut stock in .223 it weighs 7.25 lbs. There is a Savage var. rifle in 223 that weighs 10lbs. At that caliber should I consider ? Also what do you think of laminated stocks and the Savage Accu-Trigger ? Thanks..Glenn
Answer
Hiya Glenn!
Sorry for the late reply. I changed my email address and forgot to change it with AllExperts. Whoops!
The wood stocks are great but I've tended to move towards the synthetics for one purely practical reason: They don't care if they get wet or what the humidity level is, so there's virtually no effect on bedding with weather changes. I sure do like the accutrigger. The Jewell trigger for my own Rem 700VS cost me well over $200.00 and Savage basically tosses the same thing on their rifles for free. How can you beat that? The Glock-style "safety" feature on the trigger isn't my favorite, but it does no harm and probably will prevent a small number of incidents due to the very light trigger pull. I think that Savage found a way to satisfy us shooters and the lawyers as well :) -Rod-
