Desert Eagles and the infamous question..

Question
Hey there! A lot of my friends online and many offline have been having this small 'war' about the possibility of firing a .50 AE Desert Eagle one handed. One side says they can, they just need to grip it tightly and not expect great accuracy and the other side says it's impossible. The only outcome is a possibly broken wrist. Whats the deal? Can you or can't you? I'd love an answer so I can shut them up. :) Thanks a bunch, and hopefully later in life, I can join the NRA as well.
Respectfully,

Answer
It is possible to fire one-handed without breaking your wrist (assuming that you have a strong wrist and use a strong grip, not fully locking your elbow, allowing motion to take up the recoil, being careful not to hit your head with the gun). However, it would be very punishing, and not conducive to accurate shooting. I recommend against it.
