,30 Luger Mauser Parabellum

2016/7/22 9:23:57

Question
Kyle, I was surfing the net for information about an Interarms Mauser that I have had for several years.  I have a pristine pistol, 6 inch barrel with two magazines, owners manual, factory sight in target, and loading tool but no box.  It is a 7.65 MM, 30 cal. Luger.  I tries to look for Interarms, but assume that they must be out of business.  Do you know anything about this pistol?  I bought it from a guy in the early 70's.  It had never been fired.   I fired a dozen rounds through it, cleaned it and put it away.  Was wondering what you thought it might be worth and any other information that you might have.  Thanks---

Answer
Larry,

Interarms is an import company that deals with a lot of European gun makers.

The actual value of the pistol is dependent upon when it was made. If you've a pre-WWII original Mauser, it could be worth thousands, if it's a replica or the numbers don't match it could be worth considerably less.

The .30-cal chambering was the original one Luger came up with but militaries of the day thought it was just a bit too weak, so Luger flared out the mouth of the case as wide as it would go and gave birth to the modern 9mm Luger cartridge we all know and love so well today. Given that the .30-caliber incarnation of those guns are the older design, I've a feeling your pistol may be worth some money.

I'd take it to several different gun dealers and military antique dealers to get a fair appraisal of it's value. I wish I could have been more helpful

Kyle
