Question
GCH ,hope you had a good and safe new year.my question is about the kimber tle/rl11.I recently purchased one and also picked up a wilson 47d 8 round mag ,everyone says there the best made. But I had 2 nose dives in 100 rounds with that mag and no problems with the kimber supplied mag .I thought it must defective so I exchanged it for another , the same kind and had one nosedive in 1 hundred , again none with the 7 rd kimber.I guess the answer is obvious but if you have any comments or suggestions I would greatly appreciate them ,and I was shooting Fiocchi ball ammo. What is the most reliable self defence rounds ?Thank you for your time....Todd
Answer
Todd,
This is a follow-up, since I missed part of your question, viz. "What is the most reliable self-defense rounds?"
The way I look at it, if you're going to carry a .45, the bulk of the effectiveness lies in that .455" diameter 230 projectile.
.45 ACP moves pretty slowly, and I'm not sure how reliably the hollowpoints expand.
The most important thing is to carry something that is RELIABLE in your gun, even if that means ball ammuntion. All else being equal, I like the Winchester SXT in .45, but you couldn't go wrong with Hyrdashock, Golden Saber, or Gold Dot. However, reliability is much more important that any "magic bullet" so find what works every time and carry that.
