Question
Hi paul im about to buy a rimfire rifle in .22 magnum or .17hmr.i need to no if the rimfire rifles made by savage arms are any good ie;durable ,long service life etc.if i dont buy a savage rifle it will be a cz 452 2e rimfire in .22 mag or .17 hmr.in your opinion what should i do and why.
The firearm will be used on a farm ,it will be used on rabbit, foxes, and other virmin and will put horses down if they are injured and are past saving.also what do you think about the cz 527 classic in .22 hornet.the reason i ask about these rifles is because there not a highpowered centre fire (besides the hornet) and there are houseing estates within the range of a high powered rifle so your help would be greatly appreciated
Thankyou mark
Answer
Hi again.
Savage Arms company makes hi quality firearms for a low price. They been around for 110 years.
That speaks volumes about the company.
Savage also a rifle chambered in .22 Hornet.
CZ makes a fine rifle as well.
Your choose is really personal preferance.
I happen to perfer the Savage.
In terms of .22 mag or 17 HMR, I would go with .22 mag
as it is here to stay and .17 may or not be around in the future. I am not sure that either would be effective putting a horse reliably with 1 shot.
In terms of use of a rifle, if there is housing near by would not a shotgun be a better option for your purposes? Seems to me that you could easily get
Mossberg 500 20 gauge shotgun and a Marlin rimfire rifle for about the same money as the rifles you are looking at.
I assume by the spelling of centre you outside the USA.
I am not sure what laws or importation limitation may apply.
