Question
I have a little 5 shot stainless steel black powder revolver. it uses 30 gr .22 slugs, and 3 gr of black powder. it is basically the same gun as their .22long rifle belt buckle gun. now i am not going to do it, but could you break apart a .22 lr round and either use the propellant straight or mixed 50/50 with black powder to increase the power?

Answer
Mr. Feldmann,
Blackpowder and smokeless powder work by completely different mechanisms. Blackpowder combusts suddenly (one could say it explodes), but generates relatively mild pressures, easily contained by soft steel.
The propellant properties of nitrocellulos were known for a long time before someone figured out how to apply a chemical retardant to control burn rate, making it useful, and smokeless powder was born.
Smokeless powder burns, it does not explode like blackpowder, BUT it does so at an exponential factor of its original volume. Therefore, firearms made to contain blackpowder pressures WILL NOT CONTAIN SMOKELESS POWDER CARTRIDGES OR CHARGES.
So the answer is NO, NEVER use smokeless powder, straight or in a mix, in a gun that was intended for blackpowder use.
