Auto loader not working properly

Question
Hi Kyle, didnt know if you could help but thought it would be worth a try. I have a New Taurus PT908 9mm. I've shot less that 2 bxs through it. Tried 3 different brands of ammo but it won't chamber a load properly. About every third shot, the bullet doesn't chamber, then I have to pull the slide manually. The casing prior ejects but won't chamber the next round. Any thoughts?

Answer
Bob,

The good news is that Taurus has a great lifetime guarantee, should it come to that, but I don't think we're there yet. If by a 搉ew?Taurus, you mean one that's brand new-in-the-box, then what you might be experiencing is a break-in period. It sounds like there's too much friction between the slide and frame, allowing the slide to move rearward enough to eject the spent casing but not far back enough to pick up the next round.

Oftentimes guns come from the factory with the fit of their frames and slides a bit tight, or there might be a slight burr left on one of the contact surfaces. I'd take the gun apart and clean the hell out of it, then apply a coat of light oil, I use G96 Complete Gun Treatment, and then wipe it back off of the frame and slide grooves. Then, I'd just shoot the hell out of the gun. Try 115-grain bullets, they come out a bit faster and should generate more recoil impulse. You may even try a box or two of +P 115-grain loads, they're a bit more expensive but they're loaded to a higher pressure and will definitely recoil more sharply.

If after a few hundred rounds it continues to malfunction, it might well be defective. Contact Taurus and then have a licensed dealer ship it back to them. They'll either fix it or ship you a new one.

Hopefully I've been of some help, if you've any other questions, feel free to ask.
