HOW much is a 12 gauge shotgun, model# 583 worth about this time?   Also of course J.C. Higgins and Sears.

A very common question. It is very difficult to give you a exact value without seeing the gun. However, if it were in very good condition (doubtful) it would be worth approximately $100 to $150.

There was a recall issued by Sears concerning these guns. Sears was offering a $160 finders fee for bolts from these shotguns returned to them from numbers 583.13 to 583.22

I suggest that you contact Sears for additional information at 1-800-817-9165 if you have one of the above listed guns.

In the meantime, I advise against shooting it until you can research the safty issue further through Sears.
