Question
Hi, we were visiting an uncle and he gave me a 20 guage "Ranger" shotgun, single shot, bolt action, model # 101.3 He thought he bought this at Sears when he was young and only hunted with it once when he almost shot his dad. Well, my husband told him he would buy it since no one else in the family wanted it, but we have no idea what a fair market value of it would be. Would you know by any chance? Thanks
Answer
Hi Penny,
The shotgun as you describe it is a Stevens manufactured shotgun made for and carried by Sears. The value depends upon condition (which is unknown to me) but in general I would expect it to be worth $50 to $100 max.
I've seen them on auction sites in the past and in good condition they went for a max of $100. However, I've also seen them go for much less. Not that you should use auction dollars as a valuation, the prices are somewhat informative.
Hope this gives you a bit of guidance.
