Grips for Colt Police Positive Special resolver

Question
Good day. I just received a letter from Colt's historian identifying a firearm I own as a Colt Police Positive Special revolver, shipped 10/15/26, 2" bbl. The grips on it now are older hard rubber and one is broken. However, the historian indicates that the original grips were "checkered wood."
Questions:
(1) Can you recommend a source for replacement grips?
(2) I plan to sell the firearm. I'm wondering if it would make more sense to simply sell it with the present grips in place.
I'll *very* much appreciate your thoughts and comments.
Regards!
Answer
Hi Rick,
Grips are available for the revolver at several places. I would suggest that you start with these:
www.coltparts.com , www.grips.us, www.midwayusa.com
You will find a variety of grips and prices at these sites for the Police Positive. Midway is a great company to do business with and should be able to help you out. Go to their site and click on the tab "grips holsters and magazines" then click on "colt". You will see several sets of grips there. However they are "special order" with a 30 day wait.
If you really want to sell and the revolver is in otherwise good condition, it may give the piece a bit more eye appeal.
A set of reproduction grips can be had for under $30.00. So....... will you get an "extra" $30.00 for the gun with the new grips on? It is just going to depend upon the buyer. I would probably just try to sell it as is, taking into consideration that one of the grips are broken when I priced it out.
Thank you for your question. I hope this helps.
