Info on Deutsche Werke Werkefurt firearms

Question
Maybe you can help me? I've got an old 22 cal. single shot rifle that was given to me by my cousins grandma. She told me that her late husbands best friend gave it to him after WW11. He'd got it in Germany during the war. The stock is not original (hand carved). The bolt group assembly on it lifts up when you pull back on the firing pin mechanism. lifts up, extractor opens to extract spent casing. Kinda resembles the works of an M-60 breach load, if you will. Anyway, the only markings on it is the "Deutsche Werke Werkerfurt", and cal. "22 long rifle" on the barrel. "Made in Germany" is stamped into the hing point of the receiver, and on top of the receiver bolt group it has an ensignia/crest which seems to be a squirrel with the tail making an "S" (the body makes a "D" wih the tail and all. Below that is engraved "Model I". I've described this the best I can, and am hoping maybe you can shed some light on anything of it, or where I may obtain info on it. Thanks alot.
Answer
Marshall,
Deutsche Werke Werkerfurt was a small arms factory in Efurt. They manufactured small arms from around 1920 into the mid 40's. They were a German company and also manufactured other assorted weaponry.
The company was purchased from Heinrich Ortgies in the early 20's and the factory was destroyed during bombings of WWll.
There does not seem to be much collectors value around the firearm that you describe, but it sounds like a very unique 22LR. to own regardless.
Thanks for the question.
