Question
I am contemplating the purchase of a Weatherby Mark V Deluxe 30-06 from a relative. It's in good shape. What is a fair price to offer?
I'm also interested in the value of a Colt Double Eagle Officers Model 45 auto. It also is in good shape. Fair price?
Answer
Brad,
The Weatherby Mark V in "Good" condition is valued at $600. Personally, (admitted fan of Weatherby Mark V's) if it were in "good" to "very good" (most are unless abused) I may be willing to pay slightly more perhaps up to $700. So, you can be the judge of that one.
As for the Colt, A Double Eagle Officer's Model, in "good" condition is selling for about $300 to $400. If you can get it for any price within this range, I would think that you were doing ok.
Please keep in mind that value is largely dependent upon condition and I do not have the luxury of inspecting the guns in question. So, these are retail prices to be considered a guide only, not as a quote. That said, I am confident that you are within the fair market value using these values as a guide.
Thanks for the question.
