Question
When packing up my father's possessions after his death I found a rifle in a box with a label saying Ithacagun Code 228490, with a 73010397 imprinted on the gun. What can you tell me about the rifle and its value?
Respectfully submitted,
Betty
Answer
Hi Betty,
The Ithaca Saddle Gun was made from 1961 to 1979. It was originally offered in 22LR and later in 22Mag. It had a 18.5" barrel, fixed sights and a hardwood stock.
There were several versions/grades of the Saddlegun made with the models being worth (retail guide) between $100 and $300 in "good" condition. There is also a slight difference in value from model to model.
If you would like it narrowed down even further, I'd recommend that you have a qualified person/dealer inspect the firearm and provide you with an appraisal.
I hope this helps and thanks for the question.
