slug use

Question
Hello,
I was wondering if you can use slugs in a Regular shotgun or do you need a special barrel?
Thank you in advance for you taking the time to read my question.
Answer
John,
The short answer is yes you can.
However not all barrels and slug combinations will work well together. IE. If you are using a smooth bore shotgun I recommend a very open choke and rifled slugs. If you are using a rifled barrel I recommend Sabots.
Based upon the wording of your question ("Regular shotgun") I'm assuming that you are probably referring to a smooth bore barrel vs a rifled barrel (?).
One final note, you must make certain that the gun in question is in good condition and can safely be fired using the ammo in question. Sometimes when I get these questions people are referring to very old guns that were never designed to shoot modern slug ammo. If in doubt get it checked by a gunsmith.
Thanks for the question John.
