Question
I have a Hawes .44 chief marshall revolver. I was wondering the difference between the chief, the western, and the federal?
Answer
Hi Michael,
J.P. Sauer made a variety of western styled singled action revolvers based in appearance on the Colt Single Action Army. The actual differences are slight and the caliber availability is different between each model.
The Western Marshal... a 357, 44mag, 45Colt, 45ACP, 44040, 9mm, 22LR and 22rimfire magnum. Single action revolver with fixed sights. Blued.
The Chief Marshal..... a 357mag, 44mag, and the 45 Colt caliber revolver with a 6.5" and six shot cylinder and adjustable sights. Blued.
The Federal Marshal..... a six shot single action revolver in 357mag, 44, mag and the 45 Colt.
The retail value for each in "good" condition is about $125.
Thanks for the question.
