I need a suggestion for a good scope

Question
Dear Paul,
I recently purchased an FN .308 Patrol Rifle. It doesn't have sights, but has a rail to mount a scope. I have always used open sights, especially in my marine corps days(by the way, happy birthday Marines!!). Needless to say, I have very little experience with a scope, so i Don't know what I should be looking for. I would like to find something that will see as far as my rifle is accurate and have some kind of focus adjustment on it. The price doesn't much matter (as long as it isn't in the 1000's). Do you have any suggestions?
Answer
LEUPOLD, ZEISS, and BURRIS, all make scopes in the $400 to $600 range that will work well
without breaking the bank.
(I mean actual price not suggested retail)
All of these company scopes in this price range will have fine adjustments and hold a 0.
I really don't like to suggest an exact model. You really need to look through them,
play with the zoom and see which you perfer. Sighting
picture (Reticles) vary model to model. You really should look through as many as possible before buying.
Keep in mind the sell normally for about 30% off of the suggested retail price. Also that you will see your pulse in the scope a little bit. I am a iron sites guy as well, love the M1.
This is a handy site to compare features.

I do not know if the company is any good to deal with.
You will see suggested retail and a reasonable real world price.
Feel free to ask follow-ups.
And thank you for your service to the nation.
