Question
I have a Smith & Wesson 38 spec. 6" barrel Blue (target model with a wide trigger & hammer)
Stamped on one side of barrel (S & W SPECIAL CTG)
Gun looks like a Model 14
Inside on frame it does not say Model number but (Z)
                                                (77790)
                                                (N)
How old & Value is it.

Answer
Hi Don,

The S&W Model 14 (also known as the K-38 Masterpiece and/or K-38)..... In 1957 "Model 14" was actually stamped on the yoke. The model was offered in a six inch barrel with adjustable sights. There was also a single action model available in 1961. The model was discontinued in 1981.

A model 14 in "good" condition has an approximate retail value of $250.

Thank you for the question Don.
