Question
Since Savage arms lost a bunch of their records in the fire some years ago they are unable to tell me the age of my Savage model 110 cal 270 Win. The serial # is F369923. It has in parentheses (what appears to be a double stamped 4) It's markings states that is was made by SAVAGE ARMS CO. WESTFIELD MASS. USA
Answer
Hi John,
The Savage/Stevens line of firearms are most often a challenge to narrow down dates of mfg. on due to the information that you have alluded to in your question.
However based upon the information that you have provided, I'm guessing that your rifle was more than likely manufactured between 1960 and 1964.
A bit of additional info: The 110 began production in 1958 being manufactured in Chicopee Falls, Mass. but was relocated in 1960 to Westfield. The 110 production continued there under the same design until about 1964 when Savage hired a new designer who made changes to the original model 110 with subsequent model numbers variations.
I hope this helps you narrow down things a bit for you. Thanks for the question John.
