Question
I ALSO HAVE A UNIVERSAL M-1 CARBINE, AND IT FUNCTIONS QUITE WELL. IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE IT MIGHT BE DRILLED AND TAPPED FROM THE FACTORY, FOR A SCOPE MOUNT. WHO MAKES A MOUNT FOR IT, AND WHERE CAN I GET IT?
ALSO THE FACTORY PEEP SITE SHOOTS HIGH, BUT OTHER THAN ELEVATION ADJ. THERE IS NO APPARENT ADJ. ON THE REAR SIGHT. IS THERE SOME WAY I CAN ADJUST IT?
Answer
Fred,
The Universal M-1 Carbine is drilled and tapped for a scope mount usually with a plastic filler plug for the four holes on the left of the receiver.
Mounting a scope will require two pieces which can be obtained at Numrich gun parts www.e-gunparts.com The Numrich part number for the set is 574040.
As for the adjustment left in your peep site, I would almost have to be able to personally inspect what you are dealing with in regard to distance/ammo/adj. etc. There are ways in which to modify things to get more adjustment but without being certain that is the problem, I'm reluctant to go there.
If you are going to scope it..... problem solved. If not and you need a positive diagnoses on the peep, I'd have a qualified gunsmith personally inspect the firearm and sights in question for his/her personal advise.
Thanks for the question Fred.
