Question
Hello Sid, I inherited the Finnbear Sako L61R 7mmRem.Mag C-5 Golden Anniversary, which is # 5 of 1000 made from my dad who worked for Garcia. The gun is in near mint condition and I believe has never been shot. I also have a Finnbear L61R 30-06 bolt action with scope which has been shot and is in good condition but not mint and a Finnbear 308 bolt action with Manlicher stock and scope. I would be interested in selling these and am not sure of the current value. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer
Steve,
The Finnbear Sako Anniversary #5 of 1000 in "good" condition would have an approximate retail value of $450 and up.
If in V.G. as much as $750 - In Exc. $850 and if it were New In Box (N.I.B.) as much as $2500. Based upon your description I'd say that it is probably in at least V.G. to Ecx. condition. If it has the box with it and never been fired - "you're in the money".
The 06 if in "good" condition would have an approximate retail value of $550.
The 308 in "good" condition would be around the $600 area.
A value note: Guns produced prior to 1972 are worth about 25% more than the values listed above.
Also, I noted that you had scopes mounted and the value/s that I listed are without scopes. You are going to have to decide how much value the particular scopes are worth to you and add same.
What I have provided to you here is based upon my experience and the book value in the condition/s that I've listed based upon your description/s. If you are serious about selling these please do yourself a favor and have an appraisal done by a qualifed person who can personally inspect the firearms for you.
That said, at least I've gotten you in the ballpark (maybe even on base) on value. Someone who can personally inspect them would have an advantage on me. I want you to get every dollar that they are worth.
Thanks for the question/s.
