Bolt Action 308

Question
Thank you so much for the pricing of my 22 Junior Stevens. I just ordered the "Blue Book of Gun Values" by S.P. Fjestad and my model 11 wasn't listed. I now have another little problem. I went to order a stock for my 308. The Barrel is 21 3/8 inches long. The screws are 7 5/8 inches from center to center for screwing trigger and the plate after the barrel says "Fabrica De Armas Oviedo 1931. My new book also does not have this particular rifle. The barrel says Kent Firearms LTD. They, evidently, are no longer in business. Someone at Richards Microfit Stocks says that it could be a Mauser by Herstal or possibly an FN which I don't see anywhere. What have I got for a bolt action, single shot 308 and what is it worth also? I thank you again for any information that you could give me. You couldn't hit a bulls eye with the stock that is on it. From the end of the barrel to the end of the bolt is 29 inches in length. Sincerely  George M. C. Thompson -------------------------------------------

-----Question-----
I have a Stevens Junior model 11  22 rifle that is in mint condition. Someone wants to buy this from me but I have no idea on the value of it. What is it worth?  Thank you.  Sincerely  George M. C. Thompson
-----Answer-----
George,

In "good" condition it has a retail value of approximately $175, more or less based upon actual condition.

Thanks,
Sid Lark

Answer
George,

I believe that the rifle in question is one of the Spanish 1916 Mausers Oviedo mfg. M93 Mauser.  They began production in 1896 and were produced through the early 1900's in multiple versions. 308 was a prevalent caliber as was the 7mm. Mauser and 7.62x51mm.

There were 325,000 Oviedo 1916 Mausers produced from 1916 and 1936. It is a reworked version of the Mauser 1893. Due to the 1916 being based upon the 1893 pattern Mauser, you have to be sure that you have the correct stock. A large majority of the stocks available are actually fitted for the much more common M-1898 Mauser which do not have the correct dimensions to fit your rifle.

This may not entirely clear up all of your questions but it should give you a good start.

Good luck with your project and thanks for the question George.
