Question
I have a Cobray 45/410 double barrel darringer. It appears to be in excellent condition. I cn't find any infomation about this weapon. I would surely like to know it's value.
But most importantly is it safe to fire?
Answer
Bill,
I cannot advise if a paticular firearm is "safe to shoot" without being able to personally inspect it. If this is a concern, I suggest that you have the gun inspected by a qualified gunsmith that can personally inspect the gun and advise you.
That said, ......... The cobray's are a very inexpensively made firearm, the derringer is no different. The metal/s are generally stamped and of marginal fit and finish.
I have no information that would indicate that they are unsafe to shoot. Keep in mind they are not designed to take out to the range and put hundreds of rounds through. They are designed to be a cheap concealable short range means of self defense. So, one could assume that it will function up to these "standards".
As for value, these things are not exactly collectable and information is vague at best. So I can see your difficulty in locating info. I can tell you that I've seen these sell new for $125 and used for less than $100.
I hope this helps and thanks for the question Bill.
