stevens 311 dbl shotgun

I have nice 311 that is super clean and has not been fired in over 30 years.when purchaced 30 years ago it
was in pieces.Ihad it cleaned and assembled but it will not fire . The firing pins barely  touch the caps.All parts are proper parts.Why won't it fire?

It is very difficult to guess at this via the net but since we have no choice........ My first suspicion would be weak or broken firing pins/springs. This also assuming that your ammo is good. Please understand that this is merely an educated guess based upon the information provided.

To be certain I suggest that you return it to a gunsmith and have it inspected by him/her personally. I'm relatively sure that it is a problem that can be fixed by a qualified gunsmith and doubt that its anything too serious.
