Clubfoot stocks

2016/7/22 9:20:47

Question
Sid,

I'm not sure if this is within your expertise or not, but you seemed the best bet of all listed.

I am considering getting a Vltor stock for my AR, and am not sure of the merits of the clubfoot design vs. the standard design.  Can you shed any light on what the benefits of the clubfoot might be?

Thanks

Answer
CH,

This really is a somewhat subjective issue depending upon the user's personal preference, experience and training.

I personally prefer the standard design for a variety of reasons however many users are gravitating towards the clubfoot design.

The alleged benefit/s of the clubfoot design is basically that it aids in firearm control by using the off hand (non-dominate) and forcing the stock against the shooters shoulder. Basically this decreases the effort and time required to obtain proper sight placement and promotes a firmer hold/shooting platform.

My guess is that with many users going to and expressing a personal preference for the clubfoot version, you will more than likely be more satisfied with this design.

Frankly except in the heat of battle, I doubt that the clubfoot really provides the level of advantage that most seem to think that it will. But as they say "but that's just me".

I hope this helps you determine what your personal needs and desires are in the purchase of the stock.

Thanks for the question CH.
