Stevens Favorite

Question
I am in the process of moving to Arizona from Ohio and having a very difficult time making arrangements to ship/transport a gunI inherited - moving company cannot transport firearms, UPS has ability to send dealer to dealer, etc.  Hence, my question.  The gun is a Steven's Favorite with the markings 22Long Rifle on the left side by the sight.  On the right side are the markings J Stevens A&T  CO.  Below these markings is Chiccpee Falls Mass.  USA Pat APR 17 94.  Could you give me an approximate value of the gun? It apears to be in good condition as I need to decide whether to go through the hassle of making arrangements to transport it or simply try to sell it.  Thanks inadvance for any/all help you can provide.

Answer
Hi Bob,

The rifle in question in the standard "Favorite" model in "good" condition would have an approximate retail value of $250.

If this is a family heirloom or has any sentimental value, that of course is yours to figure into your decision.

It is legal for an unlicensed person to ship a long gun out of state but its destination must be to a licensed dealer within said state. This really should not be too big of a deal to get done. If it is not a handgun you can even ship it via U.S. Postal Services under the above guidelines.

If I were you I'd make a call to the U.S. Post Office and inquire about shipping the firearm to a licensed dealer in Arizona. You also may want to make a call to a B.A.T.F.E office and speak with an enforcement person to confirm this information.

Either way.... I hope this information helps you decide what to do. If I can be of any further assistance, please ask.

Thanks for the question Bob.
