Answer
I am sorry If I was not clear.
JC Higgins was a Sears house brand.
There never was a manufacturer called JC Higgins.
Sears bought firearms from major manufacturers
and had thier brand name put on them.
This was a common practice into the 1980s.
Every firearm they sold has a corrisponding name brand.
Your rifle is the same as the Marlin model 80.
Its value is determimed by the value of the name brand.
The Marlin Model 80
is the JC Higgins Model 36 at Sears.
At JC Penney is the Foremost model 2035
At KMart it was the Glenfield Model 80
and
At Western Auto its the Revelation model 103.16
All of them is the exact same rifle as the Marlin model 80.

Sears, JC Penney, Wards, Western Auto, Kmart and many others had house branded guns. In general, they were plainer
than the name brand. There little to no collectors interest
in house brand guns.
As I said in the earler post in excellent condition
its worth $100. If its condition is good its about $75,
fair condition $50, and $25 poor condition.
Until very recently almost all of things Sears sold were house branded, (example) Kenmore major appliances were made by Whirlpool and Maytag.
