Question
CAN YOU GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS FIREARM AND WHEN IT WAS MADE.IT HAS THE NAME ON THE BARREL AND THE ONLY NUMBER UNDER THE LEFT GRIP IS 9002. THANKS
Answer
Billy,
U.S. Revolver was a trade name used by Iver Johnson Arms and Cycle works on pocket revolvers. They also manufactured the same revolvers under the names, Encore, Eclipse, Favorite, Tycoon, and Eagle.
I cannot give a an exact year of manufacture base upon this information but I can advise that the company was established in 1873 and manufactured handguns like or similar to yours for over 70 years.
The most common I.J. were the Safety Automatic/s. First model 1894 & 1895, Second model 1896 to 1908, Third model 1909 to 1941. These models all had external hammers.
Also very common were the Safety Automatic/s Hammerless. First model 1895 to 1896, Second model 1897 to 1908, Third model or also known as "New Model" from 1909 to 1941.
As you can see there are a variety of models that are candidates but without benefit of personal inspection this is the best info that I can provide.
The average value of these I.J. revolvers is approximately $125 to $175 if in "good" condition.
I hope this info at least serves to narrow it down a bit based upon model etc. If you locate any additional information off of the gun frame, cylinder etc. pass it on and I'll try to help further.
Thanks for the question.
