Question
I have looked and looked to find out how to break down my gun. It hasn't been fired for a while and I would like to give it a good cleaning. It is a double barrel stevens model 311A break action. If you can't help can you list some links that might be of help thank you
Answer
Hello Amy! No problem, First- pull the forearm off, it should come off with a good stout pull down from the front,if it is the screw on type it should have a screw in the center of the bottom of the forearm. Once you pull off the forearm off, open the gun with the lever, just like you would do to load it, when it is fully open the barrels should just come apart from the receiver with a little pull and twist. Next you will need a LONG screw driver, remove the two screws holding the buttplate, insert the long screw driver into the hole in the stock and turn counter clockwise until it comes loose, pull the stock off the receiver and it will expose the hammer spring and other parts.Do Not take any thing else apart. If it has not been
cleaned in quite a while, you might want to spray some WD-40
into the action and let it set a while, it will cut all that
built up crud. To put it back together just do everything in reverse. I hope I have been of some help.
