I recently inherited a Browning model 30 Western Field Montomgery Ward 12 gauge shotgun serial #U15143. I am wandering approximate current value and also what size shell is it chambered for. And if possible, production dates. Thanks

Hi,
Western Field model 30, is a house branded Savage/Stevens model 520. It is based on 2 Browning patients.
They were made from 1915 to 1930.
It fires standard 12 gauge 2-3/4 inch shells.
Standard velosity only 1165 feet per sec. 3 dram eq. or less is recomended for a gun of this age. Use lead shot only.
Its considered to be a utility grade gun with no collectors interest, Its worth from $200 to $75 depending on condition.
