Question
QUESTION: I have a Fox Model B/Savage Arms 2 3/4" double barrel with a single gold trigger that I inherited from my dad who bought it new about 1968. I need a new set of barrels and new stock. Can you please point me in a direction? Thanks
ANSWER: I believe Gun Parts have stocks for them...is the original stock broken or gone? As far as barrels, that is more difficult. They, or Sarco MIGHT have them, but barrels need to be fitted, they are usually not just interchangeable. Are the original barrels badly pitted? Fox model B's were made from 1905-1918, Savage-Fox Model B's were made 1930-1942. They are good solid guns, however other than the sentimental value, having barrels sleeved plus a new stock set would probably exceed the value of the gun.....but if it was your dad's, who cares about the value? If it's worth it to you, so be it. Your best bet is to find another with decent barrels and have a local gunsmith fit the set to your receiver. Thanks.

QUESTION: Wow, I thought he bought it new in '68 but it seems to be older than that. My dad shot the barrel hot in 1972 at a dove shoot. There was a sort of bubble on one side of the barrel at the end. He cut 2" off the barrels eliminating the bubble...and the chokes. It stayed like that until 2002. I swung by his house one day and he was SAWING THE BARRELS AND THE STOCK OFF!!! I flipped out. He was turning it into a sawed off shotgun. Unfortunately the barrels are under the required 18"...they're 11" so it's a felony to possess it. The stock is a pistol grip. My heart sank because I told him all we had to do was have some screw-in chokes installed. Now, I'd like to buy a new barrel and stock. I went to Gun Parts like you suggested, adn saw Savage-Fox, and then "B-C". There are a LOT of things to choose from under Savage-Fox. All my barrel says is "Model B". Would this "B-C" be the barrel for it? Between the barrel and stock and other things, it will be about $175. Not too much saying the gun was dad's....if this B-C is the one. What do you think and what does it mean to have the barrels "sleeved"?
ANSWER: Talked with the man I apprentice with, he has a set of 26" 12ga. barrels for your gun. The barrels (and stock) need to be fitted. If you want to send the receiver and forearm we can do the work. Let me know. He and I are both FFL licensees and gunsmiths, so shipping to us is no problem. Thanks

QUESTION: 26" is ok. Few questions: are the barrels new or used? What is the choke of the barrels? How much to purchase and to fit the barrels and stock? About how long will it take for me to get it back from the time you receive it? Lastly, what would the price be to just ship the barrels and stock to me? Thanks
Answer
Barrels are used (as are the Gun Parts barrels), choked full and modified. From when we receive it probably 3 weeks. You need to get the stock from Gun Parts, Ed just has the barrels....and for liability and safety sake he won't just sell barrels...he's picky like that, but he's been at it full time since 1946..he's 81yo. Can't quote exact price for labor, barrels will be same price as in the catalog. He works very reasonable...think he last raised labor price in 1960!!
