Question
i'm just getting into reloading my own rounds in 7.62x54r i have shot some fmj rounds and have found the projectile and it was'nt damaged but it had the groves from the rifling can it be loaded again or not. like i said i'm new to reloading and need helpfull advice.
Answer
Hi Troy,
There is a lot that we could discuss concerning the many issues of reloading. I recommend that you obtain one of the major manufactures reloading manuals available at most places that reloading supplies are sold and also via the net.
That said, I personally do not recommend attempting to reload a spent bullet. To do so would be to invite problems that you don't want or need. Once a bullet has been fired from a casing, been exposed to the forces necessary to propel it through the rifling/barrel, then pass through a target and impacting a back stop, the bullet is basically junk. Unless it is a all lead bullet and you are just reclaiming it to meltdown and pour your own bullets etc.
Even though the bullet may appear to be in the same condition as before it was fired, it is not !
Be safe and thank you for the question Troy.
