Ranger Repeater Shotgun

2016/7/22 9:19:36

Question
My father has an old shotgun that says "Ranger Repeater Shotgun" on it.  He thinks it was made around the late 1800's or early 1900's.  It has a solid wood stock.  The model number on it is 13972B.  My father says it looks similar to other guns that he has seen made by the Browning Gun Company.  We thought that might be what the "B" stands for in the model number.

We would like to know if you can tell us for sure what Company made the gun, when and where it was made and what it might be worth.  Thank you very much.

Answer
Can't find an exact match for your shotgun but believe it was made by Savage or Stevens for Ranger, as was common years ago. Many companies built Browning pattern guns after paying royalties for the design. Rough guess would put it in the $125.-250. range if it is still in good useable condition. Thanks
