QUESTION: i am a hunter and my mother gave me my grandfathers gun.it is a 4-10 model #10125 j c higgins.i was wondering how much it is worth and why everyone i meet offers to bye it or tells me not to shot it. it fires great and is a beuatiful gun.

Just to aid in correct identification/cross reference can you please advise of the action type on your 410? E.G. hinged, bolt, pump, etc. and single shot or tube or clip magazine?

The firearm in question was actually manufactured by Stevens for Sears and is equivalent to their model 39/59.
They were chambered for 20 gauge or .410 and are blued with walnut stocks. The value of these are all similar and if in "good" condition would have an approximate retail value of $100.
