QuestionI have a Belgium made Browning Gr.1 Ltng. superposed 12 gauge shotgun with 30 in. barrel, full choke with gold plated trigger. It was purchased in 1969 and I have the lifetime warranty, booklet and letters about having the gun returned to Belgium for replacement of the wood stock that Browning said,"prior to 1974 some Browning guns were inadvertently stocked with wood which was improperly dried". I am interested in a rough value, does having paperwork add any additional value? How or where would you suggest I go to sell it? I would say it was in very good condition.Thank you, Sara
AnswerSara,
The value may go down slightly, but not a lot in my opinion. Many Brownings had the stocks replaced due to saltwood issues from 1966-1974. Some people will tell you it only happened between 1968-1971, I have personally tested stocks from 1966 and 1974 which were salty.
It is difficult to give you a value without having the shotgun in hand. If you would like, give me a call and I will try to obtain some more information about the condition or send me an e-mail at
[email protected] with some photos. The value may range from $1,800-$2,300 depending on several factors.
