Question
QUESTION: Two questions:
1. Can a scope be attached to this rifle.
2. What is the difference in fire power between the Marlin 22 cal and a 1000 fps pellent rifle?
3. Which is best for ground hogs
ANSWER: Hi.
A scope can be mounted on any rifle.
It may require a drilling and tapping.
It might be cheaper to get a newer rifle
that has built in scope rails if this one does not have them. You can use the iron sights on the rifle.
The effective range is 50 to 75 yards max.
A scope really isn't needed at that range.

QUESTION: Have you heard of a 17cal. rifle. I hear they have more velocity than a .22 cal. What is your opinion? Who makes them?
Answer
Hi again,
The .17 HMR came out 5 years ago.
Its very fast and flat shooting.
Bad parts is the only 17grain bullet which it very light.
Bullet drift is a problem with even light wind.
The ammo is very expensive. 50 rounds of .17 HMR is about the same 400 rounds of .22 long Rifle.

If your new to shooting I would recommend the .22 Long Rifle. Its ammo much cheaper and easier to find.
.22 rimfire has been around since 1854.
Its still here because its a very effective round.
