Question
my uncle has a this firearm made by Stevens arms co. that was submerged by flood waters from hurricane Katrina. i have taken apart the gun to clean, strip, and restore for my uncle. the problem is, it has been so long now apart, i have foolishly forgotten how to put it back together again. where can i find design drawings to help me put it back together? thank you
Answer
Hello George,
I wish you luck with the restoration. There are several books out that may be of some help, but I will assume that you would prefer to find something online to help you get all the parts assembled correctly.
There are 2 places that I know of online that you may find helpful: Brownells and Numrich Gun Parts (I'll attach links to both websites) sometimes they have schematics that are useful.

Also, there is a book (actually a series) called "The Gun Digest Book of Firearms Assembly / Disassembly" put out by DBI Books. (You may also find similar titles by Krause Publications or Stoeger Books)
I would check your local library to see if they have any of these books, you will want one that specifically covers the type of rifle that you are working on (sorry, I am not familiar with either a Springfield model 85 or a Stevens model 85)
I hope this helps!
