Question
Doug, I moved into my home about 2 1/2 years ago I remember bringing my Mossberg Viking 12ga on the first couple of trips and putting it away in a closet.Iwent to pull it out today and it is missing,I've looked everywhere for it and its nowhere to be found.I plan on filing a police report tomorrow. I was wanting to know is there a registry that the pawn shops have to list ser. numbers on that I can research?I believe it was stolen while I was moving,I don't have teenagers, and very few people come in my house that I don't trust. The serial # from my receipt is 4310967if that helps. Also I live in Texas if that info is needed. Thanks for your help!!1
Answer
Mike,
Sorry to hear about your loss of your shotgun. All you can do at this point is submit a police report. The police will probably run a check on the pawn shops in your jurisdiction, but pawn shops generally only have to hold firearms 30 days to see if they are reported stolen. You probably won't see it again after 2.5 years unless it is used in a crime and gets collected as evidence. Give them the serial number in your police report, but I don't think it will help.
Sorry I don't have better news.
Regards,
Doug
