Savage .250 -.3000

Question
I asked Paul Johnston about the value of a Savage .250 -.3000, to which he replied "ANSWER: Is it a takedown model? If so probably worth $350.-1000., if not it is worth about $250.-500. depending on condition. Thanks." I in turn replied that "takedown model" is unfamiliar to me and asked if he would explain. To which I received the reply of "unable to answer". Could you explain the phrase "takedown model"? No price estimate is requested. I'm just curious about the phrase. Thanks so much, if you can help.

Answer
Harry,

Generally speaking, the "takedown" models will have thumbscrews, or latches to facilitate disassembly to keep in a case.
Different models are going to have different "features" for the take downs, but usually the barrels and sometimes the stock can be removed without tools from the receiver for storage.

Hope this has helped.

Brad
