Question
Hi Sir,
I'm Rickie Austria from the Phils. I have been shooting
for almost two years now. I acquire a M1911A Rock Island 45cal commander size. It has been a pleasure shooting this gun after changing the grip into wrap around rubber grip.
When I take the shot in a 7yards almost all took into the center ring. I was amazed, my question is this Do I need to put a beaver tail in my gun for more accuracy and comfortability? I talk to a gunsmith here, and says that he will cut something in to the frame to fit the beaver tail. What tips can you give me. thanks
Answer
It is basically up to you, according to what feels comfortable for you. For myself, I would not modify the frame in that way if I was already comfortable with holding the gun and was already achieving good accuracy. But it's up to you. A beavertail is not a requirement for an accurate gun.
To get the best sccuracy from your gun, you may try firing ammunition having different bullet shapes and weights, etc., to find the types most suited to your gun. Then the most important thing is to practice.
Hope this helps!
