Question
First, I was browsing this site and saw the answer you gave about the mossberg 352KC which helped me also as I have owned one since 1969 with no ser. number and wondered why no number.Mossberg homepage was absolutely no help,, tks. on that one..Now I have owned a U.S.Reminton model 1903 -?? since 1969 when I got it through a trade for a pistol I had. The reason the question marks are after the model 1903 is that the top of the barrell where the A1,A2,or A3 should be has been obiliterated by it being drilled and tap for a scope mount. It has a bushnell custom-M 3x-9x vari power scope mounted and a Monte Carlo stock. The serial number which is very clear is 3533333. Is there anyway to I.D. which series of this 1903 by its serial number and manufacturer. If you are unable to answer, with your knowledge, could you direct me to a site or someone with info on the model 1903, also I do know from the previous owner he was the one who had this rifle "sporterized" from the military rifle it was and used it for hunting in the western U.S. Thanks for any help you can offer..Ernie
Answer
Hi,
You can look up the serial number here.
http://m1903.com/
http://www.jouster.com/cgi-bin/03/03config.pl
A Month/year should be on the barrel.
If its a 2 groove barrel its an O3A3.
Its most likily an O3A3.
You can also do it by matching up the type
of Iron sights on it.
You could also try the Springfield research service.
