Question
How can I tell weather to use rimfire ammo or center. I just recieved gun from a deceased relitive.

Answer
Paul,

Sounds like what you have is a Noble 235 Pump rifle.  This is a .22 rimfire rifle.  Check for a stamped mark on the barrel, it should say something like .22cal. That will confirm it.

You should be able to shoot any .22 cal ammo in this rifle, either shorts, longs or long rifles.  I'd probably recommend that you use the long rifle variant.

A couple of suggestions...you probably don't want to 'dryfire' this rifle as it can cause peening (denting) in the chamber.

Also, you might want to have the gun checked out if you intend to fire it.  If it has been sitting for an extended period there may be some internal rust or corrosion.  You want to make sure the barrel is not blocked by any debris.  You might want to use a cleaning rod to swipe out the inside of the barrel.  Dampen the patch with Hoppes or Breakfree.  Switch to a clean patch and run it through again.

Hope this answers your question!

Best regards,

Doug
