Question
New in box. What is it worth?
Answer
Hi Bill,
You have the short extractor variation which is not as sought after by collectors, but still collectible none-the-less. The one thing you will need to be worried about is if it is a salt wood rifle. The only true way of finding out is to check the stock on the inside with 1% silver nitrate solution. Some will tell you to check for rust or corrosion, but that is not a sure method.
As far as value...... I suspect you could sell the rifle for $1150 to $1275. The 7 mm Safari was the second highest production caliber in the Safari Grade line. There are a lot of them out there. The box helps the value so keep in good condition. You may see prices on various websites asking $1300-$1500, but I doubt the short extractor variation will sell for that amount, but it doesn't hurt to ask. If you need clarification on anything above please give me a call at 417-830-5588 and I will be more than willing to assist you.
