Answer
Eric,
First of all, you have won a very nice shotgun with it just being a Browning Silver Hunter regardless of the "DU" portion of the equation. The gun (non-DU) NIB is selling anywhere from $775 to $850 on the average.
Now the "DU" question...... There are buyers that are willing to pay above the listed value because of it being a DU 70th. anniversary dinner gun. I have actually seen these guns sell for $4000 on live auction at a DU banquet.
The point is that from the right buyer (read DU gun collector) you will be able to get more $$ for it now and more as time goes by. The problem is keeping it, not shooting it, and then finding a buyer.
I can tell you that if you were to take the gun to a gun store and offer to sell or trade it, you would be offered what a Browning Silver Hunter is worth at that time ... no more. In general the retail market is not very interested if its a DU gun or any other limited edition gun.
I would say that if you are willing to be patient and advertise it in the right places (IE. The Ducks Unlimited Magazine) you should be able to get much more for it. To say how much more depends upon a lot of issues. I would say that on the average and to the "right" buyer the guns value would start at about $2000.
Good luck and thanks for the question Eric.
