Answer
Martha,
I normally try to stay away from question regarding firearm values, but decided to answer your question.
The Savage Fox is actually a rebranded Stevens Model 311. Savage purchased A.H. Fox, a maker of high quality shotguns , in 1929. A. H. Fox shotguns were manufactured until 1941. Starting in 1942 to capitalize on the popular Fox brand, Savage, which had also purchased Stevens Arms, began to sell the Stevens Model 311 using the Fox name. These shotguns were of good quality, but targeted to those looking for a moderately priced shotgun...
The Stevens Model 311 under the Savage Fox name was produced all the way up to 1989. They were produced in 2 variants, a Model B and a Model B-SE. Since yours is older, it is most likely a Model B as the B-SE came along in the 60's. Your gun in 95% condition (almost brand new) is worth a minimum of $240. Depending on age and condition, it can go up from there, but probably not more than $400 in any case.
If the gun has sentimental value, it may not be worth selling. Please bear in mind that if you take it to a gun store, they will offer you half of what it is worth. The values are if you sell it to a collector or other private party.
Hope this helps you out...
Best regards,
Doug
