Question
Doug, can you tell me a little about the .25 rimfire as it pertains to ballistics? I have not fired my rifle since I bought it 10 yrs ago. I found a box of .25 ammo at a show.
Do you know when the ammo was last manufactured? Thanks for any help you can provide.
Answer
Barry,
Unfortunately .25 cal rimfire hasn't been manufactured in the US for a very long time. There is still some foreign manufacture of it, but it is generally treated as a custom job since the only market is to keep ammo out there for collectable firearms that are still being used.
As the number of guns in that caliber that are 'active' grows smaller, even the custom produced stuff will probably go away. If you can find ammo for the gun and wish to shoot it, buy it. No telling how much longer you will even be able to get it.
All I can tell you is that .25 caliber rimfire ammo has been in the 'curio and relic' category since 1986...so it has been at least that long since it was commercially available, probably longer.
Gun shows and gun collector shows are your best bet, but it will be expensive.
Hope this helps...
