Question
Hello, my father found a single shot 12 gauge shot gun in his attic. The gun has an external hammer, no bead on the end of the barrel, and river side arms August 1913 on the side plate. The gun is missing the for stock, but everything else looks in good shape. Can you give me some info on the gun, and anywhere that I could look to find a replacement for stock? Thank you for your time. Greg
Answer
Greg,
The Riverside Arms Co. was a brand name used by the J. Stevens Arms Co. of Chicopee Falls , Mass. on double barrel shotguns. They were of average to good quality when new and where of utility grade.
Value is dependant upon model, gauge and condition. Values can run from $100 up to $1600. Due to this it is wise to deliver the gun to a qualified person who can personally inspect it and provide you with a written appraisal.
I can tell you the "average" value for "most" models in "good" condition is approximately $350. Yours may be more which is why I recommend to you that you have it inspected/appraised for a verified value.
As for parts I would check with the Numrich Gun Parts Co. at www.e-gunparts.com
Thank you for the question Greg.
