Daisy Model 2202 Rifle

I have a Daisy Model 2202 Rifle, .22 Cal. LR that I want to give to my grandson.  I can no longer find the 10-Shot Rotary Clip (Magazine) for it.  I have seen it listed as a Clip and a Magazine depending on the article.  I have been trying everywhere to find one, to no avail.  The 10-Shot Rotary Clip (Magazine) looks like it is going to be very difficult to find.  Do you know of any place that still carries this magazine?  Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Parts can be difficult to find for older firearms.  Usually you have to find a gunsmith or dealer that has been in business for many years and still has some old stock on hand, or sometimes a new supplier will start making the parts again.  I did some quick research and came up with the following that might help you:

- New magazines (improperly referred to as "clips" which is a slang term) were once available directly from Daisy. Call customer service at 1-800-731-2479 M-F 7AM-4PM. The price was previously 4.95 each plus shipping but I am not sure if they still have any.

- Try calling Jim Coplen, Gunsmith, at 507-281-2314 to see if he still has any or knows of another source.

If the above two options strike out then you should try searching the major firearms sites once every month or so. Eventually someone may post the parts for sale. I recommend gunbroker.com, auctionarms.com, and brownells.com.  At GunBroker.com you can create a custom search for "daisy 2202" and tell it to check both the title and description, then signup to have their system automatically email you whenever an item is posted that meets your search criteria.  You might also try calling Brownells directly since they may have parts that aren't on their website.

Incidentally, I found a site which used to sell the product but now they appear to be out of stock.  Might be worth calling them just in case they haven't updated their site in a while:  http://www.ammoclip.com/D/daisy.htm

Another option is to search on the Daisy forums and see if anyone else has been able to find a source for the part.  If not then you can post your request once every 2-3 months and maybe someone will reply with a good tip:  http://www.daisymuseum.com/forum/default.asp

Finally, if all else fails and you are desperate, you can just purchase another Daisy 2202 which comes with one or more magazines, then share them between both guns.  I noticed at least four of these rifles for sale on gunbroker.com as of 12/17 and at least one of them came with two magazines.  I realize this isn't as cost effective as paying $10-$20 for a new magazine but it would beat tossing your rifle on a junkpile and maybe you could sell the spare rifle to someone or keep it for parts.  Better yet is to find someone with a young boy and give it to them for Christmas.
