Question
Dear Sir,
My grandfather has a Stevens Savage Arms Corp. Model 15-A .22 short or long single shot rifle made in Chicopee Falls, Mass. There are three patent numbers on it (2173678/2223092/2230372). He asked me to find out what year the weapon was made and approximately how much it is worth in great condition. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Respectfully submitted,
Brian Godfrey
Answer
Brian,
The M15 was but one of many inexpensive utility grade bolt action rifles made by Stevens. They were made both in single shot and repeaters. Although I have no method to accurately determine the manufacturing date of your particular rifle, I can tell you that they were made from the mid 50's to early 60's.
Your rifle, if in "good" condition would have an approximate retail value of $100.
I hope this helps and thank you for the question Brian.
